Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) is a member of the white oak family. It is a very sturdy variety and normally considered to be slow growing. However, on a fertile sight after a couple years to establish it’s roots, it can put on two or three feet of growth per year with adequate moisture and care.

Bur Oak acorns are considered of very high value to many species of wildlife. Deer, turkeys, squirrels and many other animals will fill up on the large amounts of acorns that fall from a mature tree in the fall.

The canopy of mature trees provides a good, sturdy place for a treestand, or good shade for a family picnic underneath it’s outstretched branches.
