Black Walnut (juglans nigra) is a hardy tree valued for it’s lumber and abundant crops of nuts. Walnuts are an important food source for many species of wildlife including squirrels.

The meat of black walnut is loved by humans as well. It is used in candy, baked goods and ice cream.

Black walnut also has a very high timber value and is used to make furniture, veneer and gun stocks.
